I never did see this whole series...I think I missed the last 15 eps or so. It was ok, way to animey for a TF show.. even though I love anime.

I still love RID after all these years.

It is strange though, RID reminds me of 9/11.

I liked R.I.D. and if you were lucky and got the japanese version you got a bonus few extra episoids that were censored form North American broadcasts Neil Caplan pulled of a pretty good prime however I would have prefered Gary Chalks voice over as Prime although CG makes Tfs come alive I must admit that traditionaly it remined me of G1

I hated the series, found it really boring, didn't like the voice acting or the animation. But I liked the toys, Omega Prime, (super?) Prowl and Galvatron (have loose & MISB) being among my favorites.

RiD was a GREAT series, if only for the toy line. Probably THE BEST overall toy line in Transformers history.

Just look at guys like Optimus Prime.
http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/6/67/RID_Optimus_Prime_toy.jpg
Leagues better than any Leader class toy today.

RiD also gave us our first Ultra Magnus since the original.
http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/6/60/RID_Ultra_Magnus_Toy.jpg
And the first Magnus that was not a repaint of a previous figure.

Or how about the Autobot Brothers?
http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/b/b0/UltraMagnus_Autobot_Brothers.jpg
Amazing figures that foreshadowed Alternators and even todays movie toys by transforming from a very articulated robot to a very accurate recreation of a real life vehicle. But more so, these guys had style. They had silhouettes unique to them. Unlike most of todays toys who all kind of feel the same. Doors become the arms, back becomes the legs, and hood becomes the chest. How many toys these days fit that transformation scheme? Lots. The Autobot Brothers all had very unique and interesting transformations that had never been done before, or since.

Megatron/Galvatron, the first and only Transformer to have 10 modes!
http://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/5/5a/RIDGalvatron.jpghttp://tfwiki.net/w2/images2/e/eb/RIDGalvatron2.jpg
This guy may get some shit for some of his 10 modes being a little...out there, but it's a fantastic figure no matter which way you look at him. Shame they never did that BW Megatron repaint of him. :(

And of course we have Robots in Disguise to thank for the original Nemesis Prime himself...

Hated the show...though Ultra Magnus and Scourge weren't bad characters...loved the toys.

Best part was the return of VEHICLES!!

Loved this show! Possibly the best TF show after G1!
After all the lame humour from Beasties, this show was a step up in terms of comedy, making it a refreshing change. I just loved Sky-Byte!

The voice acting was top-notch. Neil Kaplan really projected a wise/soft spoken/in charge voice styling like the original G1 Prime. And the guy who voiced Megatron did an amazing job at sounding daily insane.

p.s. it was not David Kaye, although at his TFcon 2004 Q&A someone asked him about his voice work for Megatron in RiD! :D

The American dubbing directors & writers did an amazing job re-writing to add just a little more to the story, including past TFcon guest Michael McConnohie! :)

Anyone who saw the 1st 13 eps of Autobots fighting Predacons and thought the show was lame: You are right.
...but the story added a new dimension right after with the introduction of the Decepticons. It really became alot of fun and some cool sci-fi & Transformers stories.

Thank you RiD!! :)

didn't like the show or a lot of the toys, prime looks like a primal, still too many beasts, and the car bros imo look too organic. but rail racer is awesome...so i guess it had at least one redeeming point (scourge is ok too)

When it first aired I only managed to catch one episode when the recolored Bruticus made his debut. It was a major throwback for me and quite puzzling at the time, why is Bruticus recolored and why his his name Ruination? Sadly I didn't finish watching the series until last year and surprisingly I enjoyed it, so much so that I bought all the show characters MISB (fyi, very easy to come by and relatively cheap). Some of the humor was a bit wacky but fun, I love how Sideburn is always chasing the red convertible. :) Now if Hasbro would hurry up and give us a 10th anniversary Scourge I would happy.

RiD is kind of an oddity for me, being unfortunate enough to be caught in that void between Beast Machines and the Unicron trilogy. I did go back and watch some of it but really should go back and give it another try.

I do have an incomplete Ultra Magnus that I love, though, and he serves as my Classics Magnus for now. That toy just looks incredible when it's loaded up with deluxe-sized vehicles. I'm actually surprised that Hasbro didn't repaint that mold for the 07 movie line since it's still a convincing truck mode and would have been great to load up with the deluxe movie cars. :)

I kinda hope that some of the RiD molds get used again someday. Railracer looks great and would make a nice Classics Raiden, and the landfill team look like a lot of fun. :)

Loved this Show! Wish the series would come out on DVD.

Especially after seeing the the crappy cartoon shows of Armada, Energon, and Cybertron.

I admit, when I saw RiD for the very first time in my life,I literally went 'What the Hell is this? Why are they vehicles now?Who's the kid,and why's he important? This ain't my Transformers!'

That was the intro alone.I never seen it again ever since.

And this was way before I was introduced to G1 years later.

.....And this was way before I was introduced to G1 years later.
You mean you weren't introduced to G1 in those Beast Wars' "flashbacks"? :p

Back on topic...I'll go back and watch the series again. It's been 10 years after all. I'm a little more wiser now, and I'll admit that even back then I found a few things good about the show.

Loved this show and its characters and it was soooo refreshing after Beast Machines.

Scourge was awesome as were Mega Octane, the Autobot Brothers, Prime and Skybyte. Miss this show and hope we'll get a DVD full series release from Shout! at some point in the near future.

RID FOREVER!, ive seen all the tf series, pretty much in order, and i love rid. it was the only series i can think of that had autobots decepticons maximals and predicons all together, plus they werent to fond of each other. and possibly the best best character to be in any tf series, SkyByte!, hes so funny. and this was the first 'nemesis prime' Scourge, made from primes own 'dna'. and the best part was the toys, most complex strangest combiners EVER. plus a really cool prime firetruck (that combind w/ magnus) and Fortess freakin Maximus and an eight mode megatron, what more could a tf fan ask for. happy ann. rid.

I literally thought (At age 8) that the G1 characters were essentially a backstory and nothing else...it wasn't until my family mentioned G1 in front of me and I had no idea what they were talking about.I forgot about it for a while.
