Okay, for many this will be old news but for some sitting on the 'preorder' fence, surfing to the iGear site only to shy away from the price this could be just the review for you!

Most importantly, I aim to make a direct comparison to the Impossible Toys Valkyrie (ITV) figure that some may be confusing with the Delicate Warrior offering. Don't get me wrong--I still dig the IT Valkryie...it's just that the Delicate warrior is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the Valkryie in terms of design, sculpt, quality---and of course, at a much higher price.

Let's start with the box:

http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/8256/arcee0.jpg

Clearly a larger box, and the feeling that MGT-01 is larger than the ITV. The ITV box is really sweet, but the MGT-01 has amazing artwork on the back.

Right away you get more with the MGT-01. But the size difference is a bit less than the box suggests.

IMHO, the one place the ITV outshines the MGT-01 is the alt mode. There's just something about the ITV that is sleeker, sexier and more honest to the G1 design. That is, of course, until you actually handle the two figures and see that the MGT-01 is TWICE the weight of the ITV!!!

http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/3690/arcee3.jpg

And a lot can be told from looking underneath...note the diecast and the 'special' plastic for the joints on the MGT-01. Clever idea, isn't it? Use higher quality plastic for areas that receive mechanical stress...that's engineering folks. Still, MGT-01 is messier underneath and that's another very minor strike against an otherwise perfect figure.

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/2693/arcee4.jpg

Another key difference is the hip joints. Again, the MGT-01 uses a durable plastic...almost TEFLON or HDPE in appearance for the joints. Look at how sleek the MGT-01 joints are...how they close up. Beautiful!!! Note that ITV's hips also work well, and were a big improvement over the original design (and way better than the prototype Titanium Arcee design we saw a few years ago).

http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/4894/arcee5.jpg

Part of the way thru transformation. The joint feel is "sublime". The shoulders; however, are a tiny bit tight. Everything else is A-1...not too tight, not too loose. World class. Those are rubber tires, BTW!!!

Another major difference is the Headsculpt. Actually the ITV has a different look to it...I can't describe it, leave it for yourself to decide, but I'd almost say the MGT-01 is more "classy". Neither, IMHO, fit in a "CHUG" design language so if Hasbro does make a Classics Arcee it will certainly be welcome in my lineup. That said, I've got lots of places to put these figures so I'm happy to have both!

Yes, she stands without the "anal beads". Quite well actually, and much better than the ITV.

She includes two beefy guns which also attach to the back in the Alt-mode...again, not quite as cool as the guns that manage to stash underneath in the ITV design...BUT...BIG GUNS guys...BIG GUNS!!!!

http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/5225/arcee10.jpg

And here's what you get in the package. That's THICK paper, high-quality printing, a trading card, and the little display stand. A strange miss for me were the included stickers...wasn't sure where to put them and didn't really think there was a useful place for them. No big deal but odd.

Obligatory group shot. Some missing, including the Binaltech Arcee (not Geewun enough, IMHO) and the very dear repaint of the Movie 1 Arcee (also not Geewun-ish, IMHO)

Suprising to see the variations of pink, separately, they all seemed to have similar schemes, but once together, you can see there is considerable variation...

3rd party heaven...

And here's another way to celebrate the 1986 movie.

That's all everyone. Enjoy.

Cheers Ian

I think that is the PVC Daniel that came with PVC Arcee.

But if you do have the 2 exosuit figures, I'd love to see a review.

Thanks for the Arcee review!

Sorry, indeed that's the old PVC Daneil in there. I just couldn't justify the cost for those transforming ones...I'm in the same boat, would love to see a review on them to see if they're worth buying. :)

lmao!!!
"anal beads":D

very informative and entertaining review echo:cool:

the proportions are waaaay better on the mgt-01.
i find the impossible version somewhat "thin" in the arms and legs areas.

is the multi-hinge looking thing that's attached to the hood for transformation seem fragile in hand?

lovin' the bigger gats compared to the impossible pea-shooters:clapping:

I'm liking it... not enough to buy it sadly, but its worth watching if there's ever a sale on it...

Thanks for the review!

Those are some nice looking Arcee's.

I hope the Hasbro version is a G1 version so that I can avoid having to fill the void with an ultra expensive 3rd party version.

P.S. Not bashing the 3rd parties, I am a huge supporter. I just don't like either mould enough to spend 3rd party prices on them.

Well said...no one would blame you (or anyone else for that matter) for NOT dopping $110 + shipping on this figure...the price is dear, that's for sure.

Well you certainly wouldn't want to twist/torque the chest the wrong way during transformation, but it is made of a strong feeling plastic and the hinge is beefy. The hinges have an appropriate tightness to them as well.

I'd say fine in the hands of an adult, and well engineered.

I received mine yesterday. I love this figure! The only real negative is the price, to be honest. But that is not the figure's fault. Would I still drop that amount of cash on it? Yes. I cannot believe the stability even with those tiny feet. The guns look great, head sculpt is awesome and it feels like a quality figure.

100% recommend.
