Alt Reshell - GMC Syclone - "Spool"

Well this has been years in the making (literally) but just recently I've had some spare time to get some progress on it and thought it would be time to share.

*edit: Almost there. A few final touchs are all thats left to do. The bot mode is done and the truck mode is pretty close. Just have to add door mirrors and attach the seats in a way that will work with the transformation. After these pics were taken, I glued in the center console and added the windsheild wipers.
This is based on my truck - a GMC Syclone - And I call him Spool (since Syclones are turbocharged, a turbo 'spools' up to build boost).

Alt mode - Yeah, it didnt turn out nearly as good as I was hoping as it ended up with ALOT of panel gaps. But it basicly looks like a Syclone and that'll have to be good enough for me. My next re-shell will be much better now that I've found the advice of leaving the model shell intact until it fits over the donor TF body, which I didnt find out until well after this project was started. Oh well, I'm happy with it overall.

Bot mode - I think I can call this mode done. Paint could be better but I've never been great at painting. I'm happy with how his accessories turned out though. The tailgate becomes a missile launcher and the tonneau cover becomes his sheild.

Sweet...I really wanted a Syclone or Typhoon back in college because "sleeper" cars/trucks rock!

Since Spool is a WIP I'm sure his mismatched look is not intentional. It'll be awesome to see him completed....hope you're gonna throw in some purple in the final colouring mix.

The blue legs will be painted black most likely. With red and gunmetal grey accent colours. I'm not a big fan of purple, so probably not going to use that. I am thinking of getting some shattered glass Decepticon stickers to replace the ones on him right now. The red would go better and then he'd be a good guy but still a decepticon.

I love it. Using your truck as a model and having a transformer that is exactly like it. Amazing.

I wish I could do the same with mine but with mine a 2010 Toyota Rav4.

Well maybe eventually. I do have a GN model and an extra Alternator that I think would work but it'll probably be a while before I can do anything with that one. If I could find a Typhoon model (or even just a Blazer/Jimmy) I'd love to complete the trio but I've never seen one and don't think one exists.

Updated with some new pics. Bot mode is done, truck mode still has a few final details to add.

I might end up seeing if I can make the doors more flush with the body but I'll have to see if thats possible with the way I've mounted the hinges, they're glued in there pretty solidly. I'll probably just live with it as I'm quite happy with the bot mode and thats typically how he'll be displayed anyway.
