On the bright side we don't get to see Bay's interpretation of Kup.

On the downside, that could very well be Bay's "new vision" of Trypticon, Lazerbeak, Hot Rod or any number of other names he decided to pull out of the air and randomly stick onto a completely different character model. So far Devastator has been a tank and a combiner depending which movie you watch, so maybe some old-man-bot is going to get his name this time around. Nothing would surprise me anymore.

Sigh, yes Transformers names have held so much continuity over the years.

Look at Laserbeak, how many different incarnations has he had? And Bay had nothing to do with Armada or Beast Wars Laserbeak.

Bay has gotten a fair amount of the names right, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Jazz, Ratchet, Ironhide, Megatron, Starscream, Frenzy, Soundwave, Ravage, Jetfire, so on.

Those are all connected with either personalities or imagry or both in regard to characters Transformers fans are familiar with.

And yeah, there's been some head shakers as well, but many of the names - a dare say most of the important names - have maintained some semblence to what came before.
