Have you tried TRUs? This guy is in about every TRU I've been to. If there's ever been a shelf warmer, it's Alt Skid.

Superstore @ Marine Drive in SE Vancouver has Skids, Ricochet and Rollbar, but they charge $39 for Alternators. All the TRU around here have lot s of Meister, some Optimus Prime and Camshaft/Tracks/Mirage on rarer occasions. Your best bet is ebay, should be able to get one for $25-30US shipped.
