Well RoTF didn't have as good CGI as the first one did, so I think Avatar, District 9 or Star Trek should win it.

huh? It was equal to or better than the first in terms of visual effects. Nothing went down here.

In a number of scenes the quality of the CGI wasn't as good. In the the first one, it was flawless in every scene.

Didn't bother me at all. Looked pretty damn good in both films if ya ask me.

that must be your personal opinion then... cause every scene i saw was top notch.... compared to the first one where there were many scenes that had CG cars that looked VERY CG and not realistic at all.

Agreed! I never noticed anything of lesser quality from the first film in terms of CGI whatsoever.

Cheers Ian

Avatar will win this.

The academy is notorious for overlooking films in order for something more "artsy" to win. This is why films like Slumdog millionaire get wins over the Dark Knight in the technical categories.

I'm still shoked to this day that RDJ got nominated for Tropic Thunder, I didn't think anything as low brow as that would even be on the academy's radar.

Cheers!
