Henkei Astrotrain

Urghhh! How I hate Astrotrain. The white lines and patterns were a pain to get right! The paint kept peeling off when unmasking the toy. I almost regretted taking on this project. Luckily, Astrotrain looks pretty decent in the end. Guess I underestimated a triple changer, how tough it could be.

His glossy grey was achieved by taking a highly diluted mixture of black and shading it lightly layer by layer. I kinda had some difficulties between choosing that and a lighter shade though.

Nice work!! I feel your pain with the triple changer. I painted Astrotrain in a similar fashion. :)

While I really like the work, and I'm totally jealous you can do the airbrushing thing (and really well too,) I kinda think they look dull..The airbrushing is all even, all the same, everywhere..There is no separation from one type of "metal" to the next, be it the robots metal, or the cars finish. It's all the same. They're all dark. But that's just my overall opinion..As far as the work goes, top notch stuff in all your work. Very clean.
