Megatron not coming back? Probably a lie on Bay's part, but whatever. I won't miss him since he kinda sucked in the first movie.

The 40 robots thing surprises me though. This means that a) Bay is lying again, b) perhaps some sort of short flashback scene, possibly on Cybertron, which would include a bunch of the forty robots, or c) Most of the robots won't even be named and will probably show up to die in the last battle, which I don't have a problem with. More bot carnage the better. (eg: Drones, seekers, etc).

To be honest, with all my speculation even directly after seeing the first one, I didn't expect Megatron to return in the 2nd one. I was seeing a whole GALVATRON for the 3rd one. While Starscream did the whole G1 "Starscream's Brigade" deal but instead of Combaticons, he had Devastator....... but I am just shouting in the dark of course.

Bay hinting at Megatron's absence in ROTF is all a matter of semantics in my opinion.

I'm willing to bet Megatron returns as Galvatron and that he indeed is "The Fallen".

His accidental union with The Allspark in the first movie is too significant to disregard. The tank images we've been seeing look like film production images rather than product artwork.

Yeah I'm guessing that 3/4 of those 40 robots are various drones, generic background bots, etc. I keep remembering the big thing about the TF2 first-treatment script involved a lot of surprise bots showing up in the form of various military vehicles, and something tells me Bay is probably still using an angle similar to it since he appears to be following a lot of the other templates laid out in there.
